SOLO EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY THE HONORED ARTIST OF RUSSIA DASHI NAMDAKOV IN KRASNOYARSK

V. Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum presents a solo exhibition of Dashi Namdakov - one of the most celebrated modern sculptors, People’s Artist of Buryatia, Honored Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. The exhibition timed to the 55th anniversary of Dashi Namdakov and 35th anniversary of the Academy’s Regional Department of the Urals, Siberia and Far East offers more than 600 works of the master produced from the early 2000s to the latest experiments.

His works are absolutely original, contrasting, fantastic, strange, sometimes frightening, full of many symbols, oriental and western at the same time. On display are images of old guardian animals, shamans, warriors, amazons and many-armed and many-faced creatures, as well as pictures of Namdakov’s recent projects such as “The Royal Hunt” (2013, Kyzyl), “The Baikal Father” (2018, the Olkhon Island) and “The Transformation” (2019, Krasnoyarsk) appreciated by the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2020.

The exhibition is accompanied by a film about his Transformation sculpture to be shown together with other documentary films about the artist and includes works from the collections of V. Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum, Dashi Namdakov Art Foundation, Victor Bronstein Gallery and private collection.
